Role Description
We are seeking a motivated Junior Physics Application Engineer to support the development, application, and customer use of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy systems. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career physicist/engineer who is eager to learn applied spectroscopy, work closely with customers and internal teams, and develop strong problem-solving skills in a real-world industrial environment.
You will receive hands-on training in XRF instrumentation, data analysis, and application development while contributing to system characterization, troubleshooting, and customer support activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Learn the operating principles of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy and related instrumentation
Support application development, testing, and validation of XRF measurement methods
Assist in troubleshooting measurement issues and identifying root causes using physics-based reasoning
Perform basic data analysis, statistical evaluation, and result interpretation
Support internal teams (R&D, service, sales) with technical input and application knowledge
Participate in customer demonstrations, system setup, and basic training activities (with guidance)
Document procedures, application notes, and experimental results clearly and accurately
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, or a related field
Solid understanding of basic physics principles (e.g. electromagnetism, atomic physics)
Working knowledge of mathematics and basic statistics (data analysis, uncertainty, trends)
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
High willingness to learn new concepts, tools, and experimental techniques
Ability to work methodically and pay attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-have:
Exposure to spectroscopy, materials characterization, or analytical instrumentation
Basic programming or data analysis experience (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Excel)
Laboratory experience from university projects or internships
Interest in applied physics and customer-facing technical roles
