Role Description

We are seeking a motivated Junior Physics Application Engineer to support the development, application, and customer use of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy systems. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career physicist/engineer who is eager to learn applied spectroscopy, work closely with customers and internal teams, and develop strong problem-solving skills in a real-world industrial environment.

You will receive hands-on training in XRF instrumentation, data analysis, and application development while contributing to system characterization, troubleshooting, and customer support activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Learn the operating principles of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy and related instrumentation

Support application development, testing, and validation of XRF measurement methods

Assist in troubleshooting measurement issues and identifying root causes using physics-based reasoning

Perform basic data analysis, statistical evaluation, and result interpretation

Support internal teams (R&D, service, sales) with technical input and application knowledge

Participate in customer demonstrations, system setup, and basic training activities (with guidance)

Document procedures, application notes, and experimental results clearly and accurately

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, or a related field

Solid understanding of basic physics principles (e.g. electromagnetism, atomic physics)

Working knowledge of mathematics and basic statistics (data analysis, uncertainty, trends)

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

High willingness to learn new concepts, tools, and experimental techniques

Ability to work methodically and pay attention to detail

Good written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-have:

Exposure to spectroscopy, materials characterization, or analytical instrumentation

Basic programming or data analysis experience (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Excel)

Laboratory experience from university projects or internships

Interest in applied physics and customer-facing technical roles
