Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced

Database Administrator

to manage, maintain and support Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL database environments.

Working Hours: Mon-Fri

Working Location: Central

Salary Package: Up to $9000 (basic) + AWS

Job Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure and administer

Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance

.

Provision and maintain databases across production and non-production environments.

Execute SQL scripts, stored procedures and scheduled database jobs.

Manage database security, user access and permissions.

Perform database backup, restore, high availability and disaster recovery activities.

Monitor database health, availability and performance.

Troubleshoot database and server performance issues.

Perform query optimisation, index maintenance, statistics updates and integrity checks.

Configure database monitoring, alerts and logging.

Support database patching, upgrades and configuration management.

Maintain operational documentation, database inventories, runbooks and change records.

Support security, compliance and audit requirements.

Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity activities.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in

Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering

or related discipline.

At least

4-6 years of relevant database administration experience

.

Strong hands-on experience with

Microsoft SQL Server

.

Experience with

Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and/or SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines

.

Strong knowledge of

T-SQL, stored procedures and SQL scripting

.

Experience in database performance tuning, query optimisation and troubleshooting.

Good understanding of database security, backup and recovery, high availability and disaster recovery.

Experience with

Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Entra ID, Azure Key Vault or Microsoft Defender for SQL

will be advantageous.

Experience working in regulated, enterprise or government environments will be advantageous.

Relevant Microsoft Azure or database certifications will be an added advantage.
