Software Engineer (Spring Framework, WebSphere) - Contract

Job Responsibilities:

Experienced Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions while adhering to established software development standards and best practices.

Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable application designs and software solutions.

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using J2EE technologies and industry best practices.

Lead technical design discussions and contribute to solution architecture, application design, and technology recommendations.

Develop high-quality, maintainable, and reusable code while ensuring compliance with coding standards and security guidelines.

Conduct impact analysis, effort estimation, and technical feasibility assessments for new initiatives and system enhancements.

Develop and execute unit test cases and support integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment, and production implementation activities.

Investigate and resolve application defects, production incidents, and performance issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Perform code reviews to ensure application quality, maintainability, and adherence to architecture and development standards.

Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA teams, and project stakeholders to refine business requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, deployment guides, and operational procedures.

Mentor junior developers by providing technical guidance, conducting knowledge-sharing sessions, and promoting development best practices.

Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, security, and development processes.

Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, governance standards, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 8+ years of hands‑on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise‑level applications based on business and technical requirements.

Strong expertise in Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).

Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and Microservices architecture.

Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

Experience with application servers such as WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, or Apache Tomcat.

Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD tools.

Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming, design patterns, and secure coding practices.

Experience in unit testing, debugging, application performance tuning, and production support.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams.
