Intern

Department: Others

NCS is a leading AI Tech Services company. With a 15,000-strong team across the Asia Pacific, NCS scales its platforms and capabilities to provide clients with greater agility and AI expertise across a range of Industries. Embracing a strong ecosystem of global partners, NCS transforms technology services delivery combining AI with digital resilience to drive real business impact. NCS is a subsidiary of the Singtel Group.

As a Robotics Hardware Intern, you will play a key role in the physical build and integration of our next-generation robotics hardware platform - a unified product designed to power multiple future robotics projects at NCS. Working alongside our hardware engineers, you'll go hands-on with sensor placement, mechanical design, and system assembly on a real, ground-up robot build. During this internship, you'll gain hands-on experience across the full hardware lifecycle - from CAD and component selection through assembly and validation - while developing both technical depth and the collaborative skills that come from working closely with a cross-functional engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to sensor placement and mechanical layout decisions on our next-generation robot platform, working directly with engineers on design tradeoffs (field of view, mounting, calibration)

Support wiring harness assembly, actuator integration, and mechanical assembly of hardware subsystems

Own at least one hardware subsystem or module (e.g. a sensor mount, actuator bracket, or enclosure) end-to-end - from design through fabrication to on-robot fit

Validate assembled hardware against mechanical and sensor specifications, and troubleshoot issues as they arise

Document build specifications, test outcomes, and design iterations

Collaborate with software, firmware, and project teams to ensure hardware integrates smoothly with the rest of the platform; opportunities to gain exposure to adjacent disciplines are welcome

Interest / passion in robotics, mechatronics, or hardware engineering

Comfortable with hands-on hardware work - wiring, connectors, mechanical assembly

Working knowledge of CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360)

Basic understanding of sensors and their integration (FOV, mounting, calibration)

Familiarity with scripting (Python/Bash) for test or validation tooling is a plus

Passionate and willing to learn, try, and adapt on the job - flexibility is highly recommended

Bonus: Experience in 3D Printing

Bonus: Experience in PCB Design
