Cloud Engineer (DevOps) [Public Sector | 24 Months Contract]

About the role

Join a long-term public sector initiative supporting the operations, administration, and continuous enhancement of a secure Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) platform hosted on AWS. This hands-on role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about AWS cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and DevOps/DevSecOps best practices. You will play a key role in ensuring platform availability, performance, security, and compliance while driving continuous improvements across the cloud environment.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy, and maintain secure cloud-native backend infrastructure on AWS

Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using CloudFormation templates, AWS Lambda, and automation frameworks

Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment processes

Administer AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and operational efficiency

Configure and maintain cloud networking services, including VPCs, routing, security controls, load balancers, DNS, and connectivity services

Implement infrastructure hardening and security controls in accordance with security and compliance requirements

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform, and deployment-related issues

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform operations and continuous improvement initiatives

Enhance platform reliability, security posture, and operational effectiveness through automation and best practices

About you

2–3 years of hands-on experience implementing, managing, and administering AWS cloud environments

1–2 years of hands-on experience working with DevOps and/or DevSecOps pipelines

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud automation, and CI/CD tools is highly preferred

Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure management

Experience with CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures

Proficiency in scripting or programming languages used for infrastructure automation and backend development

Familiarity with integration middleware platforms, IT operational processes, or Operations Monitoring (OpsMon) tools will be advantageous

Understanding of cloud security principles, infrastructure hardening, and compliance requirements

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
