About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Junior Trader to join our commodities trading team and support our growing trading activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving trade negotiations, managing operations, and ensuring compliance across end-to-end trading cycles.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Trade & Market Analysis

Interact with commodity traders and assist in negotiations between sellers and buyers

Monitor and analyze market trends and pricing movements

Negotiate and finalize commodity purchases at competitive prices

Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and suppliers

Stay updated on geopolitical and economic trends affecting commodity markets

Source new suppliers and expand supplier base

Operations & Logistics

Prepare and manage trade documentation (B/L, COO, COA, invoices, etc.)

Communicate with shipping agents, customers, and suppliers on vessel scheduling

Track shipments and ensure timely cargo movement

Monitor trade document accuracy and resolve discrepancies

Ensure compliance with international trade laws and customs regulations

Reporting & Record Maintenance

Maintain records of trades and shipment documentation

Generate monthly reports on trading performance and market trends

Ensure timely submission of updates to internal stakeholders

Financial & Documentation Management

Validate supplier/vendor invoice details and send customer invoices

Liaise with finance/treasury for AP and AR coordination

Ensure documentation is properly archived (electronic and hard copy)

Trade Compliance & Risk Management

Prepare and monitor L/C and trade finance documents

Review Letters of Credit and coordinate with banks/partners

Mitigate risks by ensuring accuracy of trade terms and documentation

Archive transaction flows and prepare compliance reports

Requirements

Diploma/Bachelor's in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or related field

3-5 years of experience in commodities trading or related industries

Familiar with trade finance tools like Letters of Credit

Strong understanding of international trade operations and regulations

Attention to detail, organized, and independent

Proficient in Microsoft Office and trade documentation systems

Team player with strong communication skills

Proficient in English; Mandarin preferred (to liaise with Chinese-speaking counterparts)

Willing to travel or attend events outside of office hours
