Data Centre Electrical System Architect

You will design, optimize, and scale critical power infrastructure to ensure system reliability, sustainability, and efficiency for high-density AI and cloud compute workloads, driving cost-effective and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

Design system topology and detailed schematics from utility grid connection to rack-level power to support reliable operations

Develop power solutions that meet demand and ensure continuous operation of various cooling technologies

Plan capacity using power smoothing technologies to manage dynamic AI workload power demands

Right-size and select electrical equipment to meet peak demand while ensuring modularity and scalability

Configure and sequence operations to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)

Conduct Single Point of Failure (SPoF) analyses, Arc Flash, and load flow studies using ETAP and SKM software

Standardize build-to-suit design templates to reduce design cycle times and meet cost targets

Future-proof electrical designs to accommodate evolving workload demands

Manage concurrent and fast-track projects, applying innovative design solutions and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve desired outcomes

Travel as required to support project needs

Required competencies and certifications

Proven design experience across regional metro areas

Electrical Professional Engineer with practicing certificate

Minimum 15 years of Data Centre Detail Design experience, including over 5 years in principal engineer or MEP manager roles

Expertise in electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, Neher McGrath, load calculation, lightning protection, earthing, electrical system protection, and power monitoring systems

Familiarity with IEC standards: IEC 62305, IEC 60076, IEC 60909, IEC 61482, IEC 62040, IEC 62271, ISO 8528

Practical experience in Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical distribution

Experience in hyperscale data centers exceeding 50MW per building and 100MW per campus

Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, and CYME electrical study software

Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and drafting
