Brief Description & Role
This role is responsible for performing in-process quality inspections and checks during manufacturing to ensure products comply with quality standards, customer requirements, drawings, work instructions, and applicable IPC requirements. The In-process Quality Technician supports early detection of defects, timely reporting of quality issues, and effective containment actions to maintain product quality and production flow.
Responsibilities
1. In-process Inspection: Perform inspection and verification of products during manufacturing stages in accordance with quality plans, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and acceptance criteria.
2. Quality Monitoring: Monitor workmanship, process compliance, and product quality at production lines to ensure defects are identified and escalated promptly.
3. Defect Reporting: Record inspection results, non-conformances, and quality findings accurately, and support proper segregation, containment, and disposition of defective materials or products.
4. Manufacturing Support: Work closely with production supports, process engineers, and test engineers to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
5. Documentation Compliance: Ensure inspection records, checklists, quality forms, and related documentation are completed correctly and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
6. Continuous Improvement: Support improvement activities related to defect reduction, first-pass yield improvement, process control, and quality awareness on the production floor.
Requirements
. NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
Skills, Experiences & Knowledge
. At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, in-process quality control, electronics manufacturing, PCBA, box build or a similar manufacturing environment.
. Able to read and understand drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection criteria, and quality control plans.
. Basic knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship standards, ESD control, component handling, and PCBA inspection requirements is an added advantage.
. Familiar with common inspection tools and equipment such as magnifiers, microscopes, calipers, gauges, and basic measuring instruments.
. Good attention to detail, discipline in documentation, and ability to identify workmanship defects or process abnormalities.
. Able to communicate quality issues clearly and work effectively with Production, Process, Test, and Quality teams.
