Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on

Software Engineer

to join the Software Engineering team, responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting robust, scalable Java/Kotlin applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain applications using

Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, EJB, MySQL, Oracle and IBM MQ

.

Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into scalable, fit-for-purpose technical solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex legacy defects and production issues.

Ensure adherence to coding, security and performance standards.

Participate in application design, development, testing and implementation.

Work closely with business and technical stakeholders and communicate complex technical issues effectively.

Support Agile delivery using

Scrum/XP

methodologies.

Apply TDD and software engineering best practices to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with

Core Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot

.

Strong understanding of

data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design

.

Experience with

JUnit, TDD, REST/SOAP, JMS/IBM MQ and SQL

.

Good understanding of relational databases and SQL query optimisation.

Basic experience with

Linux, AWS, CI/CD and containerisation

.

Experience with

Git, IntelliJ and SonarQube/SonarLint

.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

Banking or financial services experience is preferred.

Good to have:

JBoss, JPA, EJB, Kafka and ReactJS.
