Software Engineer (Signal Analysis Applications Development)

OVERVIEW

The Information Programme Centre at DSTA develops cutting-edge software solutionsthatharness informationtoempower the SAF to fight smarter and faster on the battlefield.

We are seeking motivated and innovativeSoftware Engineersto developapplications thatmonitor, detect, and characterise RF activity across the spectrum.As a key member of the team, you will be build advanced signal analysis applications thatleverage anRFprocessingpipeline totransformraw In-phase/Quadrature datainto actionable signal insights. These applicationsdetect emitters, classify signal types, andidentifyanomalies in near-real-time, enabling mission-critical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design: Translate complex use cases into robust solution designs and detailed technical specifications.

Application Development: Develop and optimise applications forRF signal processing and analysis.

Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhancesoftware applications to improveuser experiencewhilesupportingmission-critical objectives.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure and cybersecurityteams, to ensure successful project delivery.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,Computer Science,orarelated field.

Proficient in software engineering with experience in Java, Python or other modern programming languages.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with acollaborative,team-oriented mindset.

Preferred Technical Skills

Good understanding of wireless communication concepts,includingRF transmission,antennasystems,propagation, modulation,and signaldecoding).

Understanding ofRF signal representationand processingfundamentals such as Fast Fourier Transform, filtering and sampling theory. Knowledge in array processing is an advantage.

Experience processing digital signals representedasIn-phase/Quadrature data and time series datato extract meaningful information.

Experienceapplying machine learningtechniques toRF signal processing is an advantage.

Proficiency in GITversion control.

Expertise in software design principles, including code modularity and maintainability.

Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker)

Experience developing or deploying applications usingmicroservices architecture.

Experience with stream processing technologies (e.g. Kafka)
