Cariflex is a global leader in isoprene rubber latex('IR Latex') and isoprene rubber ('IR') production for medical and high-value markets.

Job Summary

Own and maintain process technology while providing technical guidance and training to manufacturing teams. Drive process improvements, safety, and quality management to enhance plant performance and meet market needs.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain manufacturing process technology to ensure efficient and reliable operations

Provide technical guidance and training to plant employees on process technology

Deliver technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds to minimize downtime

Lead sustainability initiatives to reduce energy consumption, raw material losses, and emissions

Collaborate with global technology teams and commercial stakeholders to implement manufacturing improvements at the Singapore site

Conduct studies to update and introduce product and process improvements aligned with market needs and performance goals

Drive initiatives to reduce product defects and improve manufacturing quality

Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to enhance manufacturing performance and operational efficiency

Champion a proactive process safety culture across all manufacturing units

Serve as the plant's subject matter expert on process safety risks and mitigation strategies

Lead process safety performance reviews with plant leadership and ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements

Lead or facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) to identify and mitigate risks

Own and govern the site Management of Change (MOC) process to control operational changes safely

Act as the technical owner for product quality performance and supervise quality/lab supervisors or managers in production lot release and allocation

Ensure manufacturing processes consistently produce products within specification and maintain process capability targets (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk)

Monitor process performance and product quality trends to identify improvement opportunities

Support resolution of customer complaints and product quality issues promptly

Review out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) events to maintain quality standards

Ensure compliance with site and corporate quality management systems, including ownership of ISO9001 and WRAP certifications

Participate in customer audits and technical reviews to uphold quality and regulatory standards

Required competencies and certifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering

Strong knowledge of chemical process engineering principles

Experience using process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or PRO/II

Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and practices

Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Advanced Process Control (APC), and process control systems

Proficient in statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques

Excellent communication skills for negotiating and coordinating across diverse functional teams and external partners
