About the Role

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will work closely with the CENTAURI software and hardware engineering teams to develop and maintain embedded software for microcontrollers and peripherals, including sensors and optical devices. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will also work on embedded software for satellite communication payloads.

Responsibilities

Develop features and fix issues for embedded software for the CENTAURI

Develop features and fix issues for embedded software for satellite communication payloads

Build embedded software prototypes for various peripherals to support R&D

Plan and implement upgrades to the embedded tech stack for the CENTAURI, including migration to new platforms/architectures/SoCs

Support CENTAURI links in production and debug production issues related to embedded software

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience

Work Experience: 4-5+ years of relevant working experience with embedded systems

Required Skills

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, especially in unfamiliar and time-sensitive situations

Strong ability to devise solutions to solve problems with limited resources

Strong ability to make engineering trade-offs and assess risks with respect to business objectives

Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills (ability to communicate ideas and designs to your peers)

Ability to thrive working with a team of people from different backgrounds in a highly collaborative, time-sensitive environment

Knowledge of electronics

Proficient in debugging hardware and embedded issues

Good knowledge of communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, UART, USB

Working knowledge of Git

Good knowledge of Linux (Debian)

Good knowledge of real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, ThreadX)

Proficient in programming in C and C++

Comfortable working with the command line

Experience developing tests (unit tests, integration tests, etc.)

Preferred Skills

Have experience developing embedded software for satellite payloads

Have experience working with Robot Operating System (ROS) 2

Have experience developing for FPGAs
