Trading System Engineer
The Trading System Engineer joins our client’s team to build and scale the core infrastructure for high-frequency trading (HFT). This role involves developing low-latency, high-throughput trading systems that operate across both on-chain and traditional financial markets. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative digital asset trading strategies within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Our client is a proprietary trading firm specialising in decentralised finance, focused on market making, search, and problem solving for leading blockchain protocols. The firm is committed to pushing the boundaries of the digital asset ecosystem through strategic research and technological innovation.
Role Overview
The Trading System Engineer will work closely with traders, quants, and engineering colleagues to design, develop, and maintain high-performance trading systems. Success in this role requires managing connectivity with various exchanges and protocols, ensuring operational reliability, and optimising system performance. The engineer will also contribute to system architecture design and operational stability, supporting growing trading volumes and market diversification.
Key Skills & Experience
Build low-latency, high-throughput trading systems for algorithmic strategies
Develop and maintain reliable connectivity with exchanges and protocols
Optimise system performance through profiling, tuning, and improvements
Collaborate with traders and engineers to translate trading ideas into scalable systems
Ensure system stability and operational uptime in a latency-sensitive environment
Strong understanding of traditional finance, architecture, and trading systems
5+ years’ experience in low-latency trading system development
Proficiency in Rust or C++ programming languages
Experience in integrating exchange/broker APIs, order management systems, and smart order routers
Skilled in system performance tuning, monitoring, and debugging
Self-starter with proactive problem-solving skills and ability to operate in high-velocity environments
Capable of working collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team
